At Parkway, the arts are a core part
of the curriculum
We feel it’s impossible to nurture and develop the whole child without the creative nature of the arts. From music class, visual arts like drawing and painting, to drama and photography, there are a wide variety of opportunities for students to engage and grow their creative talents and gifts.
Music
Parkway’s music offerings include choir and band. Students have the opportunity to perform in school chapels and to compete at the local and state level.
Visual Art
Whether it’s an oversized crayon in a kindergarten class or an artist’s paintbrush and acrylics in the high school, Parkway students of all ages have many opportunities to cultivate creativity in the visual arts. In visual art classes, students develop their practice of art-making skill, expression, and originality with a wide variety of mediums and subject matter in both traditional and innovative techniques.
Theater Arts
Our middle and high school students study a Christian approach to the arts, participate in drama sketches and learn to use the theatrical arts to share the gospel and glorify God. Students learn stage directions, creating and developing a believable character and emotional responses using dialogue and physical movement. Our students study the technical aspects of running a show including set design, costuming and lighting.
Students currently perform several yearly productions including a Christmas musical and spring production.
